BioChar Activated is produced by heating biomass at high temperatures with no oxygen present. It is highly porous and consequently has good absorption qualities.

This means biochar is very good at retaining water, toxins and bacteria. These qualities cause biochar to slow digestion and increase gastrointestinal tract surface area, allowing for improved feed conversion ratios and production.

It also allows toxins and bacteria to be absorbed by the biochar and not by the animal’s digestive system, leading to improved health and decreased mortalities. BioChar biology improves biological storage and water holding capacity, as well as stimulating plant nutrient availability. This reduces soil borne disease, improves crop quality, improves soil structure and prevents certain varieties of plant pest and disease.

Environmental Benefits

Reduction in nitrogen loss and greenhouse gasses (reduced odour) due to enhanced Cation Exchange Capacity, decreased Ureolytic activity, and decreased PH or aeration. The value of manure is also improved creating a more stable fertiliser with higher nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium values and stable carbon to add to your soil.
